Carolyn's First Spectator Editorial

We are proud to learn that Carolyn submitted her first editorial article "Help Haiti Now?" to the Hamilton Spectator and it was published on Tuesday April 6.  You can read it in the Spectator but here is the copy for a read now.

Golf Opening Season

The beautiful weather has driven the Chongs and Enrights out early onto the golf courses, actually the earliest ever.  Nick, Paddy, Ross and Ben are joined by Greg and Paul for a round at Flamborough on Easter Monday.  Just to let all of us non-golfers feel better, none of them in the fairway on their first drives.

Dundas Wins Kraft Hockeyville 2010

Well, we're happy to hear that our community won the Kraft Hockeyville 2010 Competition.  We can safely say that our group here on Eferding contributed more than a couple of 100 of those 1,000,000 plus votes that helped win it.

At the event, our Luke had a chance to meet up with Curtis Joseph, a future Hall of Famer.

Carolyn Off to UBC for SHAD 2010

Carolyn just received the good news that she has been accepted into the SHAD program at UBC.  She will be at the university for the whole month of July.  She is a fortunate one of 500 Canadian and International High School students who made it past the application and review process.  She is now furiously preparing her fundraising activities.

Answering a A Grievous Apllication to the CHONG Sibling Equitable Treatment Tribunal

At the bequest of one Matthew Chong, a grevious application to the Chong's Sibling Equitable Treatment (SET) Tribunal has been reviewed and ratified.  In response to the aforementioned's request, it has been determined after numerous deliberations that the grievance carried sufficient weight and argument to be granted an adjustment action. 

In the application, Matthew Chong expressed that his recent achievement of his Coop Job at Rogers was overlooked and did not receive fair and same treatment as the recent announcement of his sibling's secured position with OLG.  It is therefore pronounced with much apologies to the grievance's applicant that the Chong's SET Tribunal has ruled in his favour and would wish to make right their errors.

The Tribunal has heard no appeals to its decision and as such will proceed to the next step to address subsequent reparations to the injured party.

Patrick Wins CWSF Trip Award at the 2010 BASEF Fair

We are happy to report that Patrick has carried on what sister Carolyn and brother Nicholas have achieved in past years at the BASEF Regional Science Fair.  At the recent 3 day 50th Annual BASEF fair held at McMaster University (March 24-27), Patrick competed against over 350 projects and 400 students from Grades 7-12 schools in the Bay Area region (Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford to Oakville).

Bringing home over $560 in prize money, his Project "Brain Drain", studying and investigating the prospects of improving existing hockey helmets with the inclusion of collapsible air bags, was chosen as one of 16 projects to proceed to the National Canada Wide Science Fair  (CWSF) to be held at Trent University in Peterborough during May 15-18 where there will be upwards of 350 projects who have been similarly chosen from across Canada.  Patrick also won a Special Award for the project that best shows promise to receive Patent considerations.  The award will introduce him to a Patent Attorney who will guide him to the Patent application process.
